Barcode Solutions
Asset Identification is usually achieved by applying a tag or label which has a barcode and eye-readable number as part of the design.
Kodit offer a number of different barcoding solutions for our clients, which can broadly be split into tow categories: permanent asset tags, and non-permanent self-adhesive asset labels. In consultation with the client, we ascertain to what type of surfaces the tags or labels will be applied to, amount of space available for fitting to, quantities involved, discuss the type of eye-readable number which will be required (including number of digits) and relevant barcode format (although in practice Code 39 symbiology is usually sufficient for all eventualities). Perhaps more importantly, we also discuss to what function the tags/labels will be put; if there are any security concerns, Kodit Asset/Security Tags are recommended. If there are no security concerns, yet staff are likely to remove self-adhesive labels, Kodit Security Tags are recommended. If tags are not likely to be removed at all, Kodit Self-adhesive Asset Labels are recommended, and within this category several material types can be considered (please see below).
Kodit Customised Asset/Security Tags.
Applied with Kodit Resin and Primer (aircraft quality) Kodit Customised Asset/Security tags are removable only with a considerable amount of effort, which will cause damage to the item. The tags therefore act as a formidable theft deterrent. Multi-functional, the tags also offer the following features:
- Unique asset identifier
- Maintenance identifier
- Security/theft deterrent
- Recovery after loss of theft service
- Useful text on tag for the staff ('for help please call.......')
Should the item be lost/stolen, however, it may also be recovered by the Kodit free of charge recovery after loss or theft service, which may be reach 24/7 using the freephone 0800 number shown as part of the tag design. The Kodit Security Database (on which valuable tagged items are registered for life) AND the method by which the tags are applied to the valuable item are BOTH accredited to the Loss Prevention Certification Board*, standards LPS1224 and LPS1225.
Kodit Customised Laptop Security Set.
We have a unique approach to Laptop security, which consists of one Authorisation Card which the genuine user carries on his/her person, and a twin-numbered permanent Kodit Asset/Security tag which is applied to the laptop. Kodit Customised Self-Adhesive Asset Labels.
There are several types and styles of Kodit Customised self-adhesive asset label as follows:-
- Ordinary vinyl
- Destructible vinyl
- Silver polyester (matt or bright)
- Silver void polyester (matt or bright)
- Part-laminated
- Tandem labels (duplicate design and numbers)
In consultation with the client, we shall determine which of the above is suitable for their requirements, prior to creating artwork and quotation.
Next Steps
Please e-mail your company/school logo to info@kodit.com and we shall be able to create an initial artwork layout for examination. When we go to production, we shall require an esp. of the company/school logo together with the pantone colour reference numbers for any colours within the design.
From this, we shall be able to provide a quotation, and agree a production timescale (usually 4 working weeks form receipt of formal order and signed artwork layout for Kodit Asset/Security tags and form 10-12 working days for Kodit Customised asset labels.
