Thief Foiled by Quick Thinking Store Manager at Cash Converters
Staff at the St Helens Cash Converters store on Westfield Street were quick to foil the attempts of a thief to sell on a stolen PC and monitor. When the man walked into the store with the brand new computer and boxed monitor, staff spotted a Kodit security tag and called the company to check the items authenticity.
Kodit Database Limited, the security tagging and database registration experts, checked its database and, seeing the items were stolen, immediately called the security staff of the organisation which owned the equipment. The police were also contacted and quickly on the scene to apprehend the thief.
Richard Pilgrim, corporate development manager at Cash Converters, said: “Cash Converters is committed to working with the police to help reduce crime and the staff at St Helens acted very quickly to prevent the man from leaving the store. “We pride ourselves on being security conscious and we train all our staff to be alert when suspicious items are brought in and act accordingly. We also have our own in store crime prevention systems to deter criminals from passing on stolen goods.”
Helen Mollart, sales director at Kodit, added: “This is a great example of how Kodit can secure items. Cash Converters were very quick to react and prevent these items from being sold on so they could be returned to their rightful owner.”
