North Wales Business sails into successful waters.
Kodit Database Ltd, based in St Asaph North Wales, has teamed up with Seatag Safety Systems Ltd, based in Menai Bridge, Anglesey to offer a passenger safety and muster system to the Cruise and Ferry industry.
As an expert in maritime safety, Captain Trevor Bailey, Managing Director of Seatag, was aware of long-standing problems associated with accounting quickly for passengers (both singly and as families) in the event of an emergency. Developed following the “Star Princess” fire in 2006 and introduced to the cruise market in 2007, the “CT@Gâ” systems have been developed to allow for “controlled” muster - for example, immediately post embarkation under controlled conditions - or for “emergency” conditions - “the real thing”.
CT@Gâ systems provide a rapid, accurate, real-time indication of people muster by utilising asset tracking capabilities such as barcodes and RFID.
Muster Station crew members are equipped with PDAs fitted with appropriate readers. Crew members scan all personnel as they arrive at the Muster Station, providing positive identification of all passengers and crew. Several readers are in use at each Muster Station. Collected data is available on-screen at the Muster Stations and at other central locations, giving a real-time passenger count.
In order to develop and support the system, Kodit recruited extra staff in the St Asaph office, providing skilled jobs within the local area on an on-going basis.
The CT@G® system will be demonstrated at the SEATRADE Cruise Shipping Exhibition in March 2009. A number of major cruise companies have expressed significant interest in the systems. CT@G® and Kodit are confident that attendance in Miami will generate confirmed orders.
Kodit and Seatag have truly sailed into successful waters!
